blog post #5
The resources I used were the Practical Principals,Education Podcast Network, and The Benefits Of Podcasts In The Classroom.I considered all of these sources very useful.I enjoyed the resource on benefits in the classroom the most.I had never thought about how parents could actually physically see what is going on their child's classroom.I liked the fact that if a child is sick, that child can still see what is going on and can stay home. I enjoyed the fact that the Practical Principals was audio.I used to think about a podcast as using video only.I did not think of using audio only .The main thing I liked about Education Podcast Network is interesting because you can find one on any subject.I have learned a lot since I started doing research for my podcast.I did not realize itunes could be used as an educational tool until this course.

Don't Teach Your Kids This Stuff? 1)I enjoyed the blog because some of those comments about the internet being so dangerous a lot of people still believe That.I do believe the web can be dangerous but it's like anything else they require supervision.I agree with DR.Mccleod it is not saying use technology and forget about the rest. Scott Mccleod is respected in his field, which is Education technology in elementary all the way to high school. He was one the creators of Did You Know?(Shift Happens). We could learn a lot from him and I am sure we will. The i school initiative 2)The way this video was presented was done so very well.I can agree with some of the points.I mean what was said about cutbacks and textbook shortage was all true. The idea behind this is based off of iphone and itouch. We still need to educate our kids and technology is not the only way.The student that was for this does not completely understand how technology is used in education.I did enjoy the presentation even though I did not completely agree. The Lost Generation 3)I the thought the way they presented video was very innovative and creative.Time will tell which version was true. Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir 4)The virtual choir was very interesting and unique.I really did not how much until I found out none these people had even sung together.

The first teacher I was assigned was Steven Anderson .He has a bachelors in science and math for middle school and masters of arts in instructional technology. The first blog I read was about sweet search ,which is a tool to help students narrow a search down.I believe this a wonderful tool to help students. The next post discussed was #edchat on Twitter.I do not know if you know what that is.There are different groups that meet on Tuesday nights such as math, special ed,new teachers and they discuss what is going in there perspective fields.MR. Anderson has received awards for #edchat. He has given some tools we can work with now or in the future

blog post #3
A Vision of students today I did not relate to this video as much as the younger students because I have different responsibilities.I envy the student that works two hours a day.The gist of it is probably true . The video helped me think about my typical day.Technology can be a positive but ;we need to learn to use it at the right times . "It's Not About The Technology" THE Title of this article is not exactly what you think it is going to be about.MRS' Hines does not minimize the importance of technology. She just talks about some other things that are equally important such as creativity and problem solving.I agree with her.I believe we need to focus on the tools it takes to get the technology.A couple examples of this is you need to be proficient in math to be good at problem solving and you also need to be skilled in arts and writing to be creative. Karl Fisch : Is it OK To Be A Technologically Illiterate Teacher? I completely agree with MR. Fisch that it is unacceptable to be willingly technologically illiterate. The job we have or will have as educators is hard enough we need to use every tool we have at our disposal. The fact is we almost completely rely on technology.I know the only phone I have had for the past couple of years is my cell phone.I am not the most technology savvy person,it is a work in progress. The Social Media Count The media count is what I expected, but those numbers are reaching exponentially and they are only going to keep rising. The main goal to be a good educator is to be a life long learner. The thing is we can have as many degrees as we would like and can afford ,but we will never everything.Technology is just a tool we use to educate and learn more. There are numerous ways that technology can help us become better teachers.I have an example I was observing a math class at Daphne Middle School and the teacher received an e-mail trying to figure out how to solve an equation. The fact is can you imagine how long this would take if we did not have e-mail. The reason I mentioned this is because this could have been done on Twitter or Facebook or numerous other ways.

a.The educational implications of Google squared are numerous.Google squared helps narrow a search. The educational benefits I can see ,this would be extremely beneficial for students. b.The educational implications for wolfram alpha are understanding terminology and it even goes as far as the history of what you are looking for. c.I had not heard of Google squared before. d.I had not heard of wolfram alpha before.
e.I have changed my way of thinking about "Did You Know ". I did focus on the stats too much.I have already learned a lot more in the first month of class than I realized I would.

Did You Know? The information in this video gave us lot of facts, but that is not the most important thing it is what those facts exemplify. The video gave us lots of stats on population ,births, and intelligence worldwide. The most astonishing facts were the ones given on the technology that has developed over last ten to fifteen years.Population and births were lower than text messages daily and number of Google searches.the video also stated how people are training for jobs that do not exist yet.technology effects every aspect of our life that is personal and professional.
Vicki Davis : Harnessing your digital smart Vicki Davis has computer class in rural Georgia that is not traditional. She follows the curriculum , but she does that by the students working on projects over the internet with other students ,blogging, and having the students teach. She is doing what we all need to do as educators finding what works to keep students interested. Mrs.Davis' class makes me think of EDM310. The way you learn is very similar ,that is through projects and independent learning. We all have to become computer literate to try to keep up with technology.
Mr. Winkle Wakes
I found both the videos quite intriguing. The numbers in "Did you know?" were unbelievable;or someone might have thought twenty years ago.the fact is who would have thought the majority of the American population have cell phones, blackberries, etc. The technology is getting more advanced everyday. The facts I thought was amazing is that jobs are starting to be trained for that do not even exist yet and1 out of 8 couples met on the internet. The fact I find scary is how far behind we are compared to other countries.I think alot of us could relate to MR.Winkle in "MR. Winkle Wakes."We can not pretend the technology does not exist anymore.I think the information we received from both of these videos proves that. Cecelia Gault (student from Finland)interview Sir Ken Robinson She interviews Sir Ken Robinson and he focuses on creativity .He does not believe some people are not capable of being creative. He believes that we as educators need to encourage students to be creative in all subjects not just not just specific subjects.I believe his techniques on creativity can help us in the classroom and with technology.

Ken Robinson has some fascinating ideas on creativity. The idea that creativity is just as important knowledge in your core classes such as your math and sciences. The idea that the arts can be just as important. Learning would be enjoyable to more students if more educators had more of these ideas. Creativity used by the teachers as well as students could change the learning environment immensely.
